“The Power of Media and Information and The Responsibility of the users”

Media in todays day and age is completely different from how it was when it was first introduced, from talking on forums and getting help from people about a certain topic, to going on facebook and seeing different types of media shared by over a million people everyday. Media such as music, videos images and more. Media has given us the ability  to communicate with other people clearly and has made it even simpler than it was before. We have video call, voice call, voice message and a lot more. We no longer have to pay to call our relatives anymore, instead, we can just download facebook messenger or Instagram for free and communicate with our loved ones. Not just through text but also through video call. And there are dozens more of different communicating platforms that people have not discovered yet such as viber, whatsapp, telegram and more. And more and more amazing inventions are being developed each day, we just have to wait for it.

Media and Information, it is one of the biggest trends in our community at this moment. Especially with the give world wide pandemic, Social Media is one of the biggest places where we can find Media and Information about what is currently going on In the world. Every day there is new news about what is going on around the world not only regarding the current corona virus pandemic but also what is being done about it. Updates such as how may people have recovered from the pandemic, how many have died, and what is the president is doing to put a stop to the ongoing worldwide covid-19 pandemic. Though it is not always good news, we now have to stay alert when reading the news online, because there are many individuals who are fond of sharing fake news in order to confuse the netizens. So as users of social media, we must know each of our responsibilities when using different social media platforms. We must take several precautionary measures before sharing different things online. Such as thinking before we click, checking our sources, and making sure that the news being shared is valid. Because some people see the title of a link and then share it right away without reading the whole article, and this bad habit leads others to believe in the fake news that is circulating online amidst the pandemic.

So what we learned from all of the fake news is, not everything that we see online or not all of the news articles that we read are vaid or are true, with the current world wide corona virus issue that we have going on, we must be more alert than ever as not to cause any panic amongst the world wide citizens regarding the current issue. So it is important that we think before we share, we are all responsible for all of our actions,, that is why we must be extremely careful and care for everyone and staying safe.

MOOC : Vernacular Architecture

We were tasked to select ad enroll from a selection of MOOC sites that provided dozens of different courses that we could select from. The course that i chose was vernacular architecture. vernacular architecture tackles not only the structures technical details such as the materials used, the measurements, etc. but it also talks about the history behind the structures such as the purpose of why they were built and vernacular architecture also talks about the different factors that affected the creation of that structure such as climate, weather conditions, etc.

How Media Affects My Daily Life

This week, we were tasked to create a sketch on how media affects us in our daily lives, after thinking for minutes and minutes on the best thing to draw to represent how media affects my life, i decided to go simple and draw a light bulb, the reason for this is because even though at time media becomes a distraction to me and is one of the main reasons i procrastinate, in those few hours of procrastinating i am bound to learn a thing or two. since i cannot really control what my friends post and what i want on my feed, i often see news updates without even looking for them. so even though i do not watch the news, media helps enlighten me on what is currently going on not only inside my own country, but the events and scenarios that are occurring all across the world. social media is a great way to find news and share news, but when sharing news, it is important that we are literate of course.

Academic Field Trip

We were tasked to create a trip guide to a two certain locations that will stimulate learning, the two locations we chose were the Nyhavn Harbour in Denmark which will teach about the different kinds of culture of a foreign country since this is one of their most famous tourist spots. and the second location that we chose is the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada, USA since Tesla is one of the most technologically advanced and well known companies today. this will teach about certain facts that may help us learn more about how certain things work and may even teach us some new knowledge about currently developing future products as they are known to be always working on something new in order to further improve their technology.

My Ride

I ride a 2019 Cannondale Catalyst 3. I got this bike last May of 2019, and honestly, when i first went to the bike shop i had no intention of touching anything on this bike. i told myself i’d use it only as a commuter and nothing more. But that quickly changed when my friends talked me into going on a trail ride with them at filinvest alabang, which is where all the pro riders from all over train and get sharpen their riding skills. Soon enough, i was there everyday.

But of course, i was riding with a completely stock bike. So if you try to ride hard, parts will break and break. And soon enough, i was breaking the bank as well. I spent thousands and thousands of my money on this piece of metal with wheels. And honestly the real challenge was trying to hide how much the parts actually cost from my mother. but luckily, i have a supportive father who took the money for some upgrades from his own pocket.

It’s crazy how im willing to spend a month’s worth of my own allowance on a small piece of metal that barely affects my riding, but hey. Its part of the process. And of course i wouldnt be upgrading it like this if i didnt spend hours and hours on end riding it.

But of course, along with getting better, comes the infamous battle scars. I’ve had numerous accidents on this bike, both on the streets and on the trail. And some, honestly from my own recklessness. But again, its part of the process. That’s it for this post, stay tuned next time to read about my local trail. Til’ next time!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
